On Thursday, June 1st we moved out of our temporary apartment at the church in Houlgate, and into our rented house in the neighbouring town of Dives-sur-Mer.
As you will see from the pictures - our house is the one painted in the yellow colour - it is not a "traditional" house in any sense. In fact it is a house in two halves - unequal halves at that! The larger part contains a kitchen area and lounge/diner, a toilet and bathroom, and the first bedroom. The second, separate, building contains the second bedroom, which will become an office area for us, and its own toilet and shower room.
To get to our house you have to go through a corridor in the house adjacent to the road - see picture below:
Our new address is:

We are very grateful to Houlgate Evangelical Church and to their pastor, Thomas Fohner, for kindly allowing us to rent the church apartment from them during the past few months since we arrived in Normandy in November 2005. We will miss seeing the sea each day and hearing the waves breaking on the shore throughout the night!
We are not far from the town centre of Dives-sur-Mer, with its many small shops
in easy walking distance - including a renowned Chocolatier (whatever that is!). From
our door we can see the tower of the Roman Catholic church. The church suffered
severe damage during the various Wars of Religion in France in the period after the
Reformation (sixteenth century). Its bells ring loudly and not too briefly at 7 a.m., again at midday, and
finally at 7 p.m. This is supposed to be a reminder of when it is time to pray. Praying that
the bells would stop is sometimes high on my list...
