News in brief Expo-Bible 2009 This summer's Expo-Bible (Bible Exhibition) will once again be held in Houlgate Evangelical Church, from Friday, July 31st through to Tuesday, August 18th. From about Tuesday, July 28th we will be setting up the exhibition in the church, ready for the opening on Friday morning. Once the Exhibition is over, a couple of days will be needed to dismantle the exhibition, pack everything away and put everything back into its proper place in the church. If anyone would like to come along and help during this period, or even just pay the Expo-Bible a visit as part of your holiday in the area, please get in touch asap for more information. English Summer Services Our summer season of English-language Worship Services for visitors and holiday-makers begins on July 12th and runs through to August 30th. The services begin at 9am - a time that will sometimes prove a challenge to the leaders as well as to the congregation! Once again Houlgate Evangelical Church are kindly letting us use the church for these services. Fundraising by Recycling Normandy Vision has organised a scheme in the UK for recycling empty ink jet and toner cartridges together with mobile phones to raise money for supporting its work. You will find more details of this scheme on the Recycle4God web site at www.recycle4god.org.uk. We are trialling the scheme with a collection box at Danbury Mission in Essex, but you can send mobile phones and ink jet cartridges - not toner cartridges - to a Freepost address in the UK. Details of this are on the web site. The scheme is being operated through Office Green, and they have recycling collection points throughout the country, so there may be a convenient point near you. They provide a list of collection points on their web site, which you can go to via a link on the Recycle4God site. For any items that you recycle by sending to one of the Freepost addresses listed on the site, or through an Office Green collection point, please include a reference to the fact that the items are being recycled to support the charity account Normandy. Contrôle Technique That's the equivalent here of the MOT in the UK - to check that a vehicle is safe to use on the roads. Our French Fiat Ulysse people carrier is due to be checked out on Tuesday, March 17th. Please pray that it gets through the test without their being too many problems. We couldn't manage without it for our work. Trustees Meeting Normandy Vision UK Trust are holding their next Board Meeting at Danbury Mission during the afternoon of Saturday, March 21st. Please pray for this meeting, where there are many projects and ideas to discuss, that we would all know the Lord's guidance and see his way forward. We hope to have more information about some of our plans for the future after the Trustees Meeting, though our imminent house move may mean that this won't be published until towards the end of April. We will be in the UK for the Board Meeting, probably arriving during the evening of Thursday, March 19th and heading off back to Normandy on the morning of Wednesday, March 25th. House Move When we get back to Normandy during the week after the Board Meeting we will have to get down to the business of packing up our belongings and transporting them to the new house. We plan to do this gradually rather than all in one day - if for no other reason than making sure the phone and internet are working in the new house before we lose contact with the world! Please pray that backs prove strong enough for all the lifting and carrying involved. The move should be completed before the Easter weekend. When the house at Dives-sur-Mer is empty we can clean and repaint it ready to hand back to the landlord. Our new address will be: La Coulombrie We do not know yet what our new phone number will be. Email addresses remain the same of course! |
