RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. An RSS feed is content supplied from web sites, normally freely. The feed contains news headlines, summaries and links back to the full-text of the news item or message on the web site.
How do I use RSS?
To begin using RSS, you will need a program called an RSS News Reader or News Aggregator. Such a program will enable you to select and display RSS content feeds from the web. Many different RSS News Readers or Aggregators are available, including many that are free to use. They come in two main types: those that you download to your computer, install and run from your desktop, or those that are accessible through the web. Once you have chosen and set up your RSS News Reader or Aggregator, you add (“subscribe”) whatever news feeds you like.
Why use RSS?
RSS news feeds provide a simple way to be notified when content or news on a web site changes. RSS will automatically tell you when a news item, an article, or other piece of information is added to the particular news feed that you have added to your RSS News Reader.
