web pageExpo-Bible 2008: Bible Exhibition

This email gives you an update on the Expo-Bible (Bible Exhibition) that Normandy Vision are organising. It will be held in Houlgate Evangelical Church, opening on Thursday, August 14th and running through to Sunday, August 31st.

Prayer GuideOur Prayer Guide to help you as you pray for the exhibition and for the preparations already under way is now available on our website. It can be read as a web page at: Prayer Guide. Alternatively, you can also view the Prayer Guide as a pdf file and then print out the page as a single A4 sheet so that it is always to hand when you want to pray for this project.

VolunteersWe have had several people interested in coming across to help with the Expo. If you are thinking of helping please get in touch with us asap. Or if you know of someone who might like to come and be part of this project, pass this email on to them and encourage them to volunteer!

AnnouncementsWe will shortly be sending out information about the Expo to evangelical churches in Normandy. We hope that as a result of that churches and individuals will want to become involved with the Expo, either by praying for it or by volunteering to help out in some practical way, particularly in coming along when the exhibition is open to the public to be able to talk to visitors about the Bible and about the Gospel.

PreparationsThere are many practical things that have to be organised yet - from the supports for all the exhibition panels through to constructing a bookstall. We have a solution "in principle" to most, if not all, aspects of the preparations for the Expo. Converting "in principle" into "in practice" - now that's where all the hard work begins...!

HelpersMany people have been helping us out with various tasks, such as checking out French translations, writing material in French, giving us a French perspective on things etc.

GospelWe plan to offer every visitor to the Expo a copy of a Gospel in either French or English. This could mean getting hold of quite a large quantity of Gospels in both languages. It will certainly require hundreds of copies, maybe even up into the thousands. At only 50 visitors a day on average, that makes 900 copies potentially needed over the 18 days that the Expo is open - and 50 visitors a day might turn out to be a low estimate.

BookstallWe have to organise the running of the bookstall. Normandy Vision, being a UK organisation, would probably not be allowed to sell materials to the public. One solution being worked on is to get in a French Christian literature company such as CLC-France (there are other possibilities too) to be involved with the project, and for all sales to be carried out in effect through them. We, or at least one of our French helpers, will shortly be working on this aspect of the project for us.

BudgetThere are many things that we yet have to pay for: the hire of the main exhibition panels, their transport to Houlgate, support stands for the panels, advertising, Gospels to give away... Please pray especially that we will be able to finance all these things.
